The 10 Commandments of Taking Medication:
  1. Ensure you know the name of the Drug (some drugs can have similar names, so be careful)
  2. Why did your child receive the medication?
  3. What is the route of administration? (Is it oral, a rub?)
  4. Is the dose given typical or higher than usual?
  5. How long will it take for the medication to work?
  6. What are the common side effects of the medication?
  7. What are serious side effects of the medication?
  8. What are the alternatives to the medication?
  9. Mention any of your allergies to the child’s physician.
  10. Know when there is a change in your child’s drug regime.
