The Flu Vaccine

Author: Dr. Aimee Dmytryshyn, MedSchoolForParents.com Expert
Worldwide, 250,000-500,000 people die from influenza (“the flu”) each year. The flu vaccine provides 70-90% protection if there is a match between the strain of influenza and the vaccine provided that year.

It is recommended for children over 6 months of age to prevent any severe complications that can result from the flu. It is a killed virus, so it does not give the child the actual flu.
