Important facts about Meningitis:

 

  • Symptoms include fatigue, fever, headache, vomiting and eventually progresses to neck stiffness, coma or death
  • Greatest risk for children under 5 years of age
  • Obtained through close contact with infected people

 

 
Universal Meningococcal vaccine allows the body to respond to the disease if ever exposed, thus significantly reducing mortality. It is given at 1 year of age, with a booster in teenage years.
