Preserving Fertility When Being Diagnosed with Cancer

Teen and young adults should discus early on, the risk to fertility and options to preserve fertility when going through cancer treatment. Watch for Dr. Rebecca Johnson's Top Tips:
 

For Boys:

 

  • Sperm preservation: sperm are damaged with as little as one dose of chemotherapy, so early intervention is key

 

For Girls:

 

  • Egg freezing: this process takes 2-3 weeks so if onset of therapy can be delayed, the eggs can be harvested and frozen.
